Cafe 67 is well known for all its Famous Foods, Quick and Friendly Service, Unique Movie Decor and its convenient location at the end of Highway 67 in Lakeside.  Located just off Highway 67 on the southwest corner of Mapleview Street in Lakeside (at the traffic signal). Look for the large corner Cafe 67 Movie Marquee.  To all knowledgeable Hot Rodders…The answer is yes! Lyle Fisk created the signage that sits on the cafe’s corner.

Cafe 67 was conceived by its owner, Brenda Asaro about five years ago. The cafe came to life in November 2005.  Brenda  searched for two and a half years in order to find that perfect location for her new restaurant.  Her search took her throughout the entire County of San Diego.  Upon coming across the cafe’s location in the Lakeside/Santee area Brenda instantly knew that she had found what she had been looking for these past many years.  In the real estate world the word is Location, Location, Location.  Brenda’s new home for her soon to be restaurant was in Lakeside, California, just off Highway 67.

Upon signing a long term lease, Brenda instantly brought in her inner working circle of business friends and together they designed, marketed and built the restaurant that stands today.  With the design of the main room came a “Movie Theme,” complete with many objects and props from long ago movies.  The banquet room sports a “Hot Rod Racing Theme” from days gone by and is available for meetings, gatherings or private parties. 

 
Today, you’ll find some of the best home-style cooking in, and around San Diego County.   Cafe 67 opens its doors every morning at 6:00 a.m. in order to serve you breakfast or lunch up until 3:00 p.m.  Now I know I said the cafe opens at 6:00 am everyday, but I’ll tell you a little secret…Brenda begins serving coffee at 5:30 each morning for those who like to get an early start.  Come extremely hungry to Cafe 67 because the portions in this restaurant are huge and the people are friendly.  Doggie Boxes are an everyday happening at this cafe.

People always ask me what’s good while looking at our menu.  For breakfast Omlettes? One of Cafe 67’s favorites includes the “Any Way Omelettes.”   This breakfast of champions allows you to choose from a long list of ingredients and comes served on a large platter with lots of extra goodies and the toast of your choice.  Got the idea!   A favorite luncheon choice is our huge, “Gambler’s Burger.”  This giant burger has just about everything on it but the kitchen sink and once again comes served on a huge platter with plenty of fries.  In other words “the burger is a monster!”  The salads at Cafe 67 are enormous, as are the pasta meals that even your Italian grandmother will love…What about the children?  Yes, there is a separate children’s menu for those under 12.   In other words, at this cafe there is always something extremely tasty for everyone.  There is a sad note to this great place to eat…Cafe 67 is open seven days a week, except major holidays.  Hey, Brenda has a family she likes to enjoy too…

Cafe 67 offers catering services to its customers.  Many are the times of a local get together where the host or hostess has ordered the infamous Cafe 67 large deep dish pan of lasagna.  And once again, many are the stories to friends that I’ve heard told where that same host or hostess slaved over that meal in their kitchen…

 
In 2009, Brenda expanded the cafe by opening  “The 67 Deli”  for those customers that just couldn’t get away from their desks during business hours.  The deli delivers to all the businesses within a three mile area, free of charge, Monday – Friday.   If you’ve not tried or seen a 67 Deli sandwich, I’ll only tell you to bring a friend, as once again these puppies are huge.  Brenda’s deli carries over 30 specialty sandwiches.  As an added bonus, you’re also able to order off the extensive breakfast or luncheon menu.  That’s right, everything, and I do mean everything, either on the deli menu or main menu, is available to all local businesses in the area for delivery.   Both menus are available for To Go orders, for those in a hurry…

A warning to those of you who enjoy weekend crowds…“Come early!”   If the parking lot is full there is a secret place to park, just a half a block West of the restaurant at the corner of Mapleview and Chambers in the westerly parking lot just past the traffic light.  Fear not the lines.  As I said up front, Cafe 67 service moves quickly and you’ll not regret the small wait for all the great food and huge portions.  Not to mention that this is a super place to just sit, soak in the Golden Oldies tunes playing in the background, and look around at all the memorabilia.  Ogling is allowed here…

So when you’re looking for a special place to meet in the East County for Breakfast or Lunch, and you want to impress your family, friends or business associates, there is but one destination.  You see, Cafe 67  has become the East County eatery of choice to one and all who have stepped through their doors.

Brenda’s background comes with over twenty-five years of experience in the restaurant business.  Many know her as one of the original owners of the Antique Row Cafe in El Cajon which she out grew in size within two years.  In Cafe 67 Brenda found what she considers is the perfect size eatery to keep the quality in her food at the top, and with a speed of service that remains friendly to all her customers.  Eat at Cafe 67 just once and we know that you’ll agree…“I Double Dog Dare You!”
